After reading Jewel (a difficult one to start, but got much better by mid-way), I thought I would give "A Song I Knew by Heart a try. Another good story from RAD very much in the same mould as his others, whilst Thorndyke impresses with his line of reasoning you can't help but feel that he sees something in Jervis that you as the reader just can't detect, Jervis is certainly no Wat...

And Leonora Wodehouse, step-daughter of Plum, contributes "Inquest," a well-written and somber story about the poisoning of a patriarch, the judicial investigation that follows, and a chance encounter on a train with two of the drama's participants years later. Bulfinch was interested in telling these stories simply and for their own sakes, without being caught up in the Dead Language issues of the poems he excerpts (except to the extent that he uses the Latin versions of the names of the gods and goddesses rather than the Greek).
