You need his Hermeneia blockbuster ('Sermon on the Mount'), but these essays make reading that easier. You need both. Betz covers every possible angle, knows where to admit ignorance, and includes insights you'd never arrive at in 1000 years....

I disagree with the top ranked reviewer in that it doesn't provide any real survival information. How would you feel about marrying someone 16 years your senior. She has lots of really, really bad things happen to her but so many of them seem the result of some very dumb choices this very smart woman seems to make that it's hard to sympathize.
